Eating Disorders - Block Clearance Therapy

What is an Eating Disorder?

Eating disorders can impact anyone and are very common. At the centre of an eating disorder is usually an individual’s obsession with their weight. Common eating disorders include binge eating, anorexia and bulimia.

It is estimated that around 3 million people in the UK are affected by an eating disorder. 75% of these people are women, and it’s important to note that with social media pressures and images of lean women and men everywhere, this can contribute to the high levels of depression and anxiety we are seeing in the world. Eating disorders can develop at any age, but they usually develop during teenage years. 40% of people with eating disorders in the UK are bulimic, and 10% are anorexic.

Another eating disorder is Binge Eating Disorder (BED), which impacts around 1.3 million people in the UK.

Symptoms of BED can include:

Eating until you feel sick

Eating mainly unhealthier food (e.g. crisps and chocolate)

Binge eating when you’re not hungry

Irregular eating patterns (e.g. eating only at night)

Excessive guilt

Eating in secrecy

Low levels of fitness and general health

Mental health problems (e.g. anxiety and depression)

How Block Clearance Therapy can help

The good news is Block Clearance Therapy can help treat any eating disorder.

We take a different approach to most therapies. We look to find the emotional cause associated with the eating disorder, and where it comes from within your subconscious mind and your primary patterning (within the womb to 5 years old). By understanding the emotional cause, we can look to release the block which had been created, tackling the issue directly with a view to permanent change.

Anorexia can often be associated with extreme fear and a lack of worthiness to eat, bordering on self-hatred for some individuals. Sometimes it is due to rejection in one’s life. Aside from this, anorexia can be brought about due to an individual’s desire to take control over an aspect of their life, where perhaps they feel out of control in many other aspects of their life, and so it is important to understand why the anorexia has manifested. Bulimia similarly can involve feelings of self-hatred, which we need to determine the cause of, but some sufferers of bulimia can also feel terror and a lack of safety within their life, feeling it is inescapable.

Compulsive eating can often be a result of desiring more protection in one’s life. In some cases, this may be due to experiencing abuse during childhood, and so the over-eating of food can act as a complete replacement of nurture, nurture which they may have felt they didn’t experience earlier in life. Over-eating, but not compulsively, can also be linked to seeking comfort and protection.

Through understanding the eating disorder and releasing the negative patterns and belief systems associated with them, we can begin to introduce more regular eating patterns back into an individual’s life, enabling an individual to move forward within more positivity and feeling better about their life.

Positive affirmations tailored to your session will be provided to reinforce the releasing of the block you have cleared, allowing you to remind your subconscious daily that this is a pattern which no longer serves you, and instead, you want to replace this old negative pattern with a positive one instead.
