OCD - Block Clearance Therapy

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a condition determined by an individual’s belief system that is has to perform and complete an act or task to be safe. All OCD patterns are subconscious safety mechanisms created in childhood, and often individuals suffering with OCD can be indecisive because they don’t trust themselves to make the right decision.

Examples of Major OCDs:

Hand washing until hands are red raw

Ritual cleaning of yourself or your home

Checking windows and door locks repeatedly

Never opening windows

Repeatedly turning lights on / off

Always needing music, the radio or the television on

Eating or fixating on a particular type of food (see eating disorders)

Twiddling hair until it is pulled out

Nail biting until painful and drawing blood

Needing to hear a clock ticking to get to sleep

Walking a route then walking backwards in the same footsteps

Having cupboards regimentally ordered

Needing to have things in an exact position

Chain smoking

Insomnia

Example of Minor OCDs:

Excessive use of smartphone

Avoiding cracks on pavements

Biting nails

Fiddling with items

Hair twiddling

Excessive fidgeting

Rocking to go to sleep

Turning rings on fingers

Doodling

Individuals with OCDs will often perform rituals or routines, have superstitions, and have compulsions to do things a certain way, in order to keep them safe.

How Block Clearance Therapy can help

Block Clearance Therapy understands that OCDs are created from a place of wanting to stay safe.

We take a different approach to most therapies. We look to find the emotional cause associated with the OCD, and where it comes from within your subconscious mind and your primary patterning (within the womb to 5 years old). By understanding the emotional cause, we can look to release the block which had been created, tackling the issue directly with a view to permanent change.

In BCT we explore where these patterns of disconnection to safety, or a lack of safety, have come from within the subconscious mind. It is possible that this need to be safe may have arisen due to experiencing abuse growing up. Individuals suffering with OCD can also demonstrate a need to take control within their environment, and so in this case we can also look to see whether there have been any imbalances within one’s control, for example has the individual felt out of control in their childhood?

Through understanding the particular OCD and releasing the negative patterns and belief systems associated, we can begin to re-pattern the individual’s subconscious mind more positively, allowing for a more balanced approach in feeling safe in future.

Positive affirmations tailored to your session will be provided to reinforce the releasing of the block you have cleared, allowing you to remind your subconscious daily that this is a pattern which no longer serves you, and instead, you want to replace this old negative pattern with a positive one instead.

The Bach Flower Remedy recommended for OCD, is Rock Water.
